Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome

1) When does PRAXIS start?

2) How long does it take to finish the program?

3) Can I work and still be in PRAXIS?

4) What is the daily schedule?

5) Do I still student teach?

6) What about transportation from NAU?

Answer 1: PRAXIS starts every three semesters. PRAXIS VII will start in the Spring of 2003, PRAXIS VIII in Fall of 2004, and so on.

Answer 2: PRAXIS takes three semesters to complete, but you need to complete the prerequisites for the Education Program first (this normally takes two years). Overall, a dual major degree takes four years.

Answer 3: Yes, you can work while in PRAXIS. It requires a lot of time management and personal accountability, but it can be done.

Answer 4: The daily schedule:

Four days a week you teach at Weitzel Elementary School, from 8:00AM -11:00AM. Then you attend classes, normally one or two per day. The exact schedule varies per semester.

Answer 5: Yes, PRAXIS is NOT student teaching nor does it replace it. After you spend the three semesters in PRAXIS you student teach.

Answer 6: There are always other students who live on or around campus who are willing to carpool to and from Weitzel if you do not have your own car.
